God's Provisions... Small Beginnings

The crazy white hen that the Lord provided finally laid an egg!!! TWO eggs to be precise!

Until realizing that we had two fresh eggs in the nest, I was not too attached to this crazed hen. Chickens aren't our favorite animal anyway (we much prefer ducks!), but if the Lord enables the chickens to produce something for our use, then we'll tolerate them! While moving our fencing to make way for garden expansion, our rooster and hen decided to do some excessive free ranging! At that time, we didn't really care, all she was doing so far was eating feed and bugs while in return giving a little fertilizer, so we weren't too concerned about her well being. In the process of moving the fencing, the coop needed to be moved, and in the process moving the coop, a board covering part of the nesting box needed to be moved, and following the process of moving the board, two eggs were discovered!!! Suddenly, our care for the crazy white hen was vastly broadened and we quickly herded her and the rooster back into the fence!

The following afternoon we were delighted to discover another egg in the hay! Making a grand total of THREE!!! In our Saturday flurry we forgot to check today... but who knows... :)

Chickens aren't too bad, but that doesn't make them good!!! We pray Cluck continues to lay too... so far so good!
Maybe someday the Lord will provide a cow for us... I must say, I do like cattle (even though they're way more maintenance) better than chickens... except for that pig bread on Besh's phone! :) But currently, Cayuga ducks are the animal of choice!!!
